When Conventional Systems Fail...
Conventional waterproofing systems use a combination of waxes and resins to prevent water penetration...but waxes and resins do not dissolve in water without a surfactant to emulsify them. Over time, however, these surfactants left behind in the wood actually attract moisture to the interior of the wood, causing it to swell, warp and crack.

The AquaProof W/B Difference
A new class of proprietary surfactants in AquaProof W/B actually uses a crosslinking agent that reacts only after the formulation soaks into wood and the water evaporates. Crosslinking the surfactant destroys its ability to attract water and preserves AquaProof’s depth of penetration better than solvent-based systems. While AquaProof is a two-component system in concentrated form, formulators can easily convert it to a shelf-stable, one-component product for trade sales.

AquaProof W/B Advantages

  • VOC compliant — no organic solvents
  • Easy clean-up
  • Inhibits water absorption and swelling of wood
  • Inhibits water absorption into masonry
  • Penetrating colorless treatment
  • Crosslinking agent provides a poor environment for mold and mildew
  • Good “breathing” properties
  • Pronounced, long term beading effect
  • Cost efficient system
Water-Based Water Repellent Outperforms
Solvent-Based Competition

Wood treated with AquaProof W/B water-based water repellent (right) outperforms wood treated with a leading solvent-based product (left) in terms of water beading and resistance to water absorption.
